Living in a Toxic World

My generation (born from 1980 on) is the first generation to be raised in a truly toxic world - from womb to adulthood.
Assault is everywhere: Carcinogenic particles in air pollution, heavy metals, Industrial solvents, Prozac, household cleaners, radioactive waste in drinking water, artificial growth hormones in beef, arsenic in chicken, pesticides in flea collars (which is no surprise considering the United States uses just about 4.4 billion pounds of pesticides every year), synthetic chemicals in personal care products, chlorine bleach (dioxin) in feminine hygiene,  BPH in plastic bottles, teething rings and medical devices, formaldehyde in baby cribs and nail polish; phthalates in baby toys, lead in lipstick, There is even damn rocket fuel in lettuce! All this would definitely explain the sudden explosion in chronic illness, cancer rates, miscarriages, birth defects, asthma, ADHD and autism around the globe. Did you know childhood cancer (once a medical rarity) has grown 67 percent since 1950? Not to mention, Asthma has increased 140 percent in the last two decades & autism rates increased approximately 200 percent!
The worst part of all this, our children are the ones paying the price - because of their underdeveloped defense systems, they are 10 to 60 times more susceptible to toxins than adults. And I believe, if we are all exposed to environmental toxins, from conception to early life, it can set our cellular code for our entire life span & cause disease anytime throughout the aging process. Which may also account for the rise in Alzheimer's & Parkinson's, as well as breast & prostate cancer.
The point of this post is not to scare you, it is to inspire hope and optimism while spreading an important message. When we know what is going on, we can stop it from happening any further. These poisons are MAN MADE - Manufacturers can easily take them out of our lives & still make tons of profits from safe, healthy, non-toxic products - In other words, "Green Chemistry" can replace toxic molecules with harmless ones.
We can't continue to bury our heads in the sand & just hope that one day it will all go away. We can't leave the job up to someone else! I know many of you feel the human race has let the problem become so massive, and sometimes its best to pretend it doesn't exist - but it does! And it isn't more massive than we allow it to be. It is totally within our reach! We need to learn from each other to make one another smarter & stronger. It is in our power to learn about what harms our children, share knowledge and DEMAND ACTION!
