Sesame Sunscreen Recipe

You may have heard me ranting recently about the toxic and carcinogenic ingredients found in commercial sunscreens, and how I am disgusted in the 50 billion dollar United States cosmetic industry for allowing these products to be made in the first place. Well a few friends asked me what I would recommend or use, so I thought I would share this recipe for an all natural, safe and effective sunscreen that you can make right in your kitchen!

This sunscreen is made with coconut and sesame oils which have been used as natural sunscreens for ages.

*Please note* coconut oil liquifies when it's warm, so if you want a firmer butter, keep it in the fridge.

Yields: approximately 2 oz of sunscreen

Application: Apply 30 minutes before going in the sun

Shelf life: 6 months

Ingredients:
2 tbsp coconut oil                       1/2 tsp aloe vera gel
1 tbsp shea butter                        2 tsp zinc oxide
1/2 tsp sesame oil

1. Place oils and shea butter in a double boiler or a small bowl over a saucepan of boiling water and heat until the shea butter has melted,

2. Pour into a glass measuring cup and stir in aloe vera gel and zinc oxide.

3. Pour into a 2 oz glass jar
